This workout is dedicated to Chief Petty Officer Jason Freiwald. Jason, along with teammate Senior Chief Petty Officer John Marcum, died on 11 September 2008 during a firefight in Afghanistan.

Since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), the Department of Defense reports that 1,208 Sailors and Marines have been killed in action. Today’s WOD is a humble tribute to the sacrifices of these great men and women. Although they may be gone from the Earth, their memory will live on forever.
In teams of 2 (1 working, 1 resting) complete the following for time:

On 12 October 2000 the destroyer USS COLE (DDG 67) was attacked by a suicide bombing while it was harbored and refueling in the Yemeni port of Aden. Seventeen American Sailors were killed and 39 were injured. This event was the deadliest attack against a United States Naval vessel since 1987.

Courtesy of CrossFit NorthWest Tucson, this WOD honors those killed and wounded in the assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords on 8 January 2011. 20 people in all were shot, 6 died and the youngest was nine years old. This Memorial WOD is named after Christina Green, the youngest of those killed. The names of the five others slain are: Gabe Zimmerman, 30, U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63, Dorwin Stoddard, 76, Dorothy Morris, 76, Phyillis Schneck, 79.

This workout is dedicated to Sergeant First Class Todd Monroe Harris, United States Army who died 3 November 2010 from injuries sustained during combat operations in Afghanistan. Born 11 May 1973, Todd was a 1992 graduate of Sahuaro High School in Tucson, Arizona. He was an all state varsity football player and was homecoming king. Todd enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1998. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and two in Afghanistan. Todd is survived by his mother and stepfather, Diane and Edward Adams; father and stepmother, Sam and Becky Harris; daughter, McKenna Harris; son, Kai Harris; stepdaughter, Taysia Paul and extended family and friends.
