To honor Veterans Day, today’s workout will start at 0730 on the basketball court at South Hall.
Throughout our great history, countless men and women have selflessly answered our country’s call to service. From the humble beginnings of the Continental militias, to our modern military that knows no equal throughout the world, the very freedoms that we cherish have been, and will continue to be protected by our fellow Americans. Unlike other societies, we do not have an elite warrior class. Instead, our military is comprised of men and women, fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters. Together, all of these individuals make great sacrifices, willingly and proudly marching towards the sound of the guns to protect our great nation, and guarantee its future for generations to come. For those that have gone before, thank you for your service and sacrifice. For those who are currently serving, thank you for answering the call, be safe, be strong, and continue to wear the cloth of this great nation with pride.
Since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), the Department of Defense reports that 1,208 Sailors and Marines have been killed in action. Today’s WOD is a humble tribute to the sacrifices of these great men and women. Although they may be gone from the Earth, their memory will live on forever.
